Account Suicide

An account suicide is a GameFAQs forum action where a user posts as many violations in a single post as they can with the specific intent of being banned. This can be done to get rid of an unwanted account, but is sometimes done on a dare using a brand new account purely out of boredom and a desire for attention. The first memorable account suicide was done by Greek Wog in November 2001. He was KoSed for posting a long, explicit message about CJayC's wife Shadotak. In those days, that was not common like it is today, so he was dealt with harshly. What made it more shocking was that Greek Wog's account was an older account, with ID# 18832 and creation date of June 2000. In late 2002, the KoS user Executioner popularized account suicides to a greater extent after his dozens of humorous and explicit account suicides. A year later, the practice was referred to as a LUEicide, because accounts were being suicided daily on LUE at the time. After the removal of LUE from the board listing, the practice has mostly died there. It is more often seen on MBH and the large social boards - where attention is certain.

Oftentimes, suicides are criticized by observing users if LUEshi is not present - or if the suicide simply does not contain enough violations. Many users also look down on accounts suiciding with low karma - the higher the karma the account has when suiciding, the more users may praise the suicide. This is often superseded, however, by the quality and scale of the suicide.

Suicides where the user posts many ToS-violating topics or uses alts to spam a board with violations are often called rampages.

After the close account option was disabled, many users would come to MBH asking how to close their account, and they would often receive replies such as "Suicide is your only option," and often these users would suicide their accounts by claiming to be under the age of 13. This brought new attention to the Sashananism "Suicide isn't your only option; you can always have a pizza, instead" (The phrase actually predates this event, coming from the ToS Quiz).

Actual account suicides, and even posts stating an intention to do one, always result in bans and usually result in a usermap axe. Most suicides are quickly forgotten, a notable exception being that of NickBush24, who used multiple accounts to post a mass suicide on Current Events.
