General Moderators had the Board Level of 51. General Moderators had the ability to access the full moderation queue and handle their own marks, which New Moderators could not do.
The level of General Moderator was not a typical part of the New Moderator promotion when it was first installed. Instead, New Moderators at the time handled only one specific aspect of the queue, such as handling only messages marked as Off-Topic. When the New Moderators were promoted, they would typically retain this specialty and be promoted to Specialist Moderator. Instead, General Moderators were typically moderators promoted before the 6th batch who did not elect to specialize in a certain category. Despite this difference and the higher userlevel of Specialist Moderators however, there was no functional difference between the two userlevels. Both General Moderators and Specialist Moderators had access to the same Specialist queues and the full queue, and Specialist Moderators had none of the limits placed onto New Moderators.
As of November 29, 2005, this level is defunct, replaced with a generic Moderator level, given to moderators who had been promoted from New Moderator and have been on the staff for less than four years.
