Kill On Sight

Kill on Sight, better known as KoS, is a term borrowed from EverQuest which designates a user as an unwelcome presence on the boards. This punishment was usually reserved for perpetually troublesome users or ones who pose an inordinate threat to the site as judged by the administration. There were three levels of KoS in descending order from most severe to least:

• Class 1 KoS users are actively hunted down by the moderation staff and all of their accounts are terminated when found.
• Class 2 KoS users are suspended and banned only if caught violating the ToS and the moderators are instructed only to suspend the offending account.
• Class 3 KoS users are suspended only if they "misbehave or reveal their identity."

KoSes, except in atypically egregious cases of unacceptable user conduct, are generally removed after a period of time, provided the user in question maintains a reasonably low profile and refrains from causing any further trouble. Until 2004 or so, CJayC maintained the KOS List himself and updated it periodically at the mod board; beginning in 2005 and through it's end, Lead Moderator ruyeyama was believed to be in charge of maintaining it. However it was still believed that only Administrators could add or remove entries from the list.

Some well-known former KoS users include BigRedMachine, rancid milk, LOL ANIME FANBOYS, XThe UnknownX, Jabberwocky, shoooter, Amir, Gavirulax, and TRC.

In August of 2008 the KoS List was discontinued and as a result KoS no longer officially exists.
