Snack Attack is a dead board that had once been converted by users into a "Message Detail 2"; a place to report violations for others to mark to move it up the queue. This concept has been declared by several moderators including tiger8191 and Sashanan to be ineffective, but not in violation of the ToS. Other moderators had openly said that they would like to see the board closed down.
The term Message Detail 2 refers to when Message Board Help was overloaded with topics complaining about violations that hadn't been deleted yet - in other words, using the board as a pseudo-Message Detail button. It was later decided that Message Detail 2-type posts were not appropriate for MBH, and Snack Attack became the new home for these posts.
Official responses
In April 2006, on Message Board Help, Lead Moderator RaptorLC labeled Snack Attack as a board where trolls went to report users who fought back against their trolling. He commented that Snack Attack actually harms the moderation queue by bumping minor and non-violations up ahead of actual violations.
On August 19, 2006 Zhuge Liang made a topic outlining a new policy for Snack Attack. The new policy required minor violations to be at least 24 hours old before they could be reported on Snack Attack, although major violations such as suicides could be reported immediately. It also stated that if a non-TOS violating message was reported on Snack Attack, the reporter would receive a NKL. This policy was apparently implemented without consultation with other moderators or the administrators, and later the topic and policy were removed.
On August 26 2006, the moderators implemented a new notification system in the form of a sticky topic on Message Board Help, intended for serious violations only. Devin Morgan posted the link on Snack Attack, hence rendering the secret board redundant. When word got out that topics were being closed many users flooded the board to see if it was true. The board was locked down as a result of the flood.
Snack Attack is now mostly abandoned, and is no longer used for reporting TOS violations.
