Anything posted that violates the ToU that gets marked will result in what is called a moderation. The severity of moderations differ greatly, from NKL to a Usermap Axe. Typical moderations are normally dealt with by moderators, while the more severe moderations are handled by the administrators.
A Warning will change your Board User Level to level 5 and you will have reduced posting abilities.
If the post is bad enough or if a user has a bad history, the moderator can then suspend a user, and an administrator will review the suspension and from there either Overturn the moderation, Warn the user, Purgatory the user, Ban the user, or Usermap Axe the user.
You have the ability to dispute moderations on the ground that the punishment you recieved was not a violation at all. A moderator can then uphold the moderation, or overturn it, with or without reposting it.
An overturned moderation means that the moderator agrees it wasn't a violation, and the Karma lost (if any) is given back. The moderator can overturn a moderation without returning the message to the boards.
An upheld moderation means that the moderator stands by their decision that the message was a violation of the ToU, and the punishment stands as given. A user can further appeal this moderation to a Lead Moderator, and then to an Administrator if they feel it is necessary.
