Profile Wipe

A profile wipe is what occurs when a user has a ToS violation in their profile. This includes Signature, Quote, instant messenger name, E-mail address, etc, although a non-standard sig separator or pre-sig will also cause a profile wipe suspension.

When a profile violation is discovered, a Moderator creates a Generated Message containing the information from the profile and then suspends the user in question. If the profile violation is in the user's signature or posts, a Lead Moderator or Administrator then uses a special "sig wipe tool", which allows them to automatically remove signatures from individual posts without deleting the rest of the message. The user remains suspended until the suspension can be reviewed, at which time the user's profile is wiped clean and their User Level is set to Warned or worse.

Signature violations created via GameFOX formerly had to be dealt with manually, resulting in the deletion of all posts containing the signature. However, following an upgrade to the sig wipe feature, this issue has been resolved: those signatures are now removed like any other, leaving the posts intact.
