Topic Archive

The Topic Archive feature was introduced to GameFAQs on February 7, 2008, and on game boards that were shared with Gamespot served as a replacement for the nightly topic purge. With the introduction of topic archiving, topics that would have otherwise purged instead remained forever, however they were now frozen and unable to be edited in any way and the posts within the topic were no longer selectable through Message Detail. In May, 2011, topic archiving spread to include Special Interest boards as well.

There is not currently an established system of marking or reporting violations within archived topics. The only means of moderating an archived topic is to contact a moderator who in turn reports to SBAllen who would then manually delete the topic from the system. However this only applies to serious ToU violations as the effort required to manually delete topics is too much for the many potential minor issues.
