April Fools Boards 2008

For April Fools 2008, SBAllen created 6 new secret boards: IT'S OVER 9000, Jumpman, Rollin', VGFA, The End of the World, and The End of Time. Since one of them was known to exist a few days before April 1st, it is believed that all 6 boards were created a few days early. This was SBAllen's first time creating new special boards.

IT'S OVER 9000

IT'S OVER 9000
Board Number 9001
Creation Date March 30, 2008

IT'S OVER 9000 is based on its namesake fad. Discovered on March 30 by Swordless Link, the board was initially kept as a relatively small secret. However, there was no stopping the flood of users who came on April 1st via links posted all over the GameFAQs Message Boards. Soon after the board's creation, the city of Ennedeus and its government were established. After a small feud with Semprini and a decrease in their own activity, and strong opposition from several board members, the city fell, and a new social community sprung up. This is by far the most active of the special boards created in 2008.

Jumpman

Jumpman
Board Number 19521115
Creation Date March 30, 2008?

Jumpman was named in reference to the first games with Mario. The number represents the date on which Shigeru Miyamoto (creator of "Jumpman") was born - November 15, 1952. Jumpman was one of the last special boards created in 2008 to be sufficiently leaked (in mid-April).

Rollin'

Rollin'
Board Number 19660206
Creation Date March 30, 2008?

Rollin' was named for the rickroll, a famous internet meme. The board number represents the birthday of Rick Astley (the person who sang the song) - February 6, 1966. TakatoMatsuki discovered the board on April 1st, but at this time, most users believed IT'S OVER 9000 was the only new board created. He gave clues about the board number to his friends at LoD in hopes they would find the board too. This ultimately led to the board being leaked by April 7th, and it resparked the search for the special boards.

VGFA

VGFA
Board Number 19951105
Creation Date March 30, 2008?

VGFA is short for Video Game FAQs Archive, the old version of GameFAQs. The board number represents the site's date of creation - November 5th, 1995. The board was discovered by barbarianbob within a few days of its creation, but it wasn't until almost a week later that it became the third sufficiently leaked board created in 2008. A few individuals had plans for the board, but it seems those plans have fallen through the cracks, as the board is currently a stereotypical special board - with karma topics and idle chat among board hunters.

The End of the World

The End of the World
Board Number 20121221
Creation Date March 30, 2008?

The End of the World refers to the end of the Mayan Long Count Calendar - December 21st, 2012. Discovered by ChatbotSana, this board was the fourth special board created in 2008 to be sufficiently leaked (in mid-April). After a few weeks of inactivity on the board, ChatbotSana declared herself "Divine Empress for Life," but she has rarely visited the board since. Most topics currently on the board are just idle chat among board hunters.

The End of Time

The End of Time
Board Number 20380119
Creation Date March 30, 2008?

The End of Time refers to a joke crisis similar to Y2K but more closely related to UNIX time. Discovered by barbarianbob, this was one of the last special boards created in 2008 to be sufficiently leaked (in mid-April). As the board had no leader or government by the end of May 2008, Dreamwalker claimed it as his new home board on June 4th 2008. In June 2009, over a year later, he closed all his topics and relinquished his position on the board. The End of Time is similar to most other special boards with its idle chat among board hunters.

"There are 30 secret boards."

A secret message on GameFAQs said that there were 30 secret boards, but as of March 29th, only 22 were widely-known. This message caused many board hunters to keep searching after IT'S OVER 9000 only brought their total to 23. After a few more boards were leaked, a few users conjectured that "30" may have been written in base 9, thus making the real total 27, but the widely-known total quickly rose to 29, making almost everyone confident there was a 30th board. A couple months after the chaos, word spread that Wow and the fabled "30th board" (Empire) were actually created at some unknown time in the past - not for April Fools 2008. Only a select few users had found the 30th board by the middle of August 2008, and they were being even more protective of it than users were protective of Angela. Unfortunately for them, barbarianbob leaked a few clues which were spread until someone found the board and began leaking to other users. Even so, the "30th board" was still relatively unknown until the big leak by TRC on December 6th, 2008 on Current Events.
